Self Defense helps participants become more aware of their surroundings and conscious of the fact that they do not have to feel helpless in any situation.
Research shows that students who have taken self defense classes often report feeling more prepared in case of a violent attack or a sexual assault. They also report feeling more empowered in everyday situations – like when walking at night. Self defense teaches how to reduce vulnerability, improve situation awareness, and reaction in a variety of situations.
The goal of our Self Defense program is to provide participants with response options in case of an attack or any unwanted situation.
“Women who report using physical resistance during an assault, state that they felt it either helped the situation or prevented escalation.”
